About Compress PDF
Email services and application forms often set a limit on PDF size. Slimfile takes your limit and works towards it in two stages.
First it removes hidden extra data while keeping your text selectable. If that is enough, you are done. If not, it turns each page into a carefully sized picture and searches for the sharpest version that fits.
That second stage is powerful, but you should know the trade-off: text in the result can be read but no longer selected or searched. Slimfile always tells you which stage was used.
Questions
Why can I no longer select text after compressing?
To reach very small sizes, pages are saved as images. If you need selectable text, choose a larger target so that only the first stage is needed.
Why did it not reach my target?
A PDF with many pages needs a minimum amount of space per page to stay readable. Slimfile will not go past that point. It gives you the smallest readable version and tells you its size.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
Not yet. Please remove the password in your PDF app first.
Is my PDF private?
Yes. It is processed on your device and never sent to any server, which matters for ID documents and contracts.
