About Compress to 2MB
2 MB is a typical upload limit on websites, forums and support forms. It is also generous: most images can stay at full pixel size with high quality.
For very large camera files and detailed PNG images, Slimfile finds the highest quality that still fits. If you only just need to pass a limit, set your target a little lower, such as 1.9 MB, for a safety margin.
Tips for this size
- Decimals work: try 1.9 MB.
- Some websites count 1 MB as 1,000 KB, so leave a small margin.
- PNG screenshots usually shrink a lot as JPG or WebP.
Questions
Why was my 1.95 MB file rejected by a 2 MB form?
Some websites count sizes a little differently. Slimfile uses 1 MB = 1,024 KB. Aim for 1.9 MB to stay safe.
Can I keep PNG format?
Yes. Choose PNG under "Save as". The image will shrink in pixels if needed, since PNG has no quality setting.
